Dear friends and family -

It’s been a few weeks since my last blog. I've been busy doing my everyday thing. That includes the manual labor required to beautify the land I am living on here in Chiang Mai. Other hours are spent writing my new book, titled Many Gods - One Heart, the first draft is nearly complete.

Many Gods is a companion book to Shambala - The Path to Paradise. The first novel introduces Robert St. Clair, the eighty-year-old billionaire owner of Shambala Natural Foods. He escapes from Happy Acres, a gated dementia facility, with his three best friends, Maggie, Sopi and Howard. Together they head off on a life altering adventure to Tibet, on their way to the ideallic mythical valley of Shambala, hidden somewhere in the Himalayas. Robert tells the story of being a “golden child,” trained in Shambala to be the next master of their lineage. Police detectives are on their trail because (apparently) of an alleged double homicide. Along the way both groups are guided by immortal masters, learning lessons of love.

Many Gods - One Heart is a collection of the diary entrees and poetry of Chogyal Da Rinpoche (Robert) between the ages of eleven and thirty-three. I have taken the liberty to choose selected passages from the original book of the same name, which was published in 1966. At the age of thirty five, the young master was on a book tour in New York City. After his first packed-house lecture he ran away from his “destiny" and headed to Portland, Oregon, to find his parents and start a new life in the grocery business. Following a near-death experience at age 80, Robert needs to complete his destiny and find his way “home.”

Some masters hanging around
This blog is mostly for the pictures . . .

The main temple

Last Sunday I went with friends to Chom Thong, to this amazing Buddhist, but actually all religions, temple complex an hour from Chiang Mai. I won’t go into the fun long story, but I went into a room and we were introduced to this young man (I had no idea who he was). He turned out to be a “probably enlightened” master who, in the last eight years, has manifested well over a million dollars of amazing statues. I met him on the path later, and he told me to come back in a year and we would continue our conversation, but I can only speak Thai. This is my next challenge, learning how to speak a tonal language. Is that possible? Wish me luck.

With love always,  David Dakan Allison        Scroll down for more photos
